Manhattan Beer Distributors is the fourth-largest beer distributor and the largest single-market beer distributor in the United States with headquarters in New York City, New York.

As the first company in the North East to convert their diesel trucks to compressed natural gas (CNG), Manhattan Beer has always been proactive in minimizing their carbon footprint. With their continued Green Initiative and partnership with Volvo Trucks, they are now transitioning into heavy-duty electric vehicles. The missing piece of their new EV fleet was filled by bp pulse’s omega charge management software.

The goal

Transitioning to an EV fleet

With sustainability as a top priority, Manhattan Beer extended its longtime partnership with Volvo to include a pilot project of five heavy-duty Volvo VNR electric trucks as the first step to transitioning to an EV fleet. With the electric trucks ready to hit the road, bp pulse’s omega charge management software sweetened the deal by providing the company with a way to manage and optimize their charging operations.
Combining omega and Volvo’s VNR trucks, Manhattan Beer will see their carbon footprint and total cost of ownership significantly reduced.

The outcome

omega works seamlessly with bp pulse’s site controller to orchestrate charge sessions to minimize the overall cost of electricity. The charging solution and technology agnostic approach will allow Manhattan Beer to cost-effectively scale their electric fleet as needed.
